Alan provides the Board with a wealth of manufacturing experience having been engaged in the sector for over 13 years. Having worked for a number of multi-national companies, he is currently director of Rittal CSM - a company with serves the world's major IT companies and which employs 450 people in Plymouth.  
 
Alan is currently vice-chair of the Economic Development Group within Plymouth 2020 (the Plymouth LSP), chair of Plymouth Business Growth (the body responsible for delivering Plymouth's City Growth Strategy), and a member of the South West Industrial Development Board (since January 2003). His commitment to manufacturing is reflected in his appointment as a Regional Ambassador for the SW Manufacturing Advisory Service.  
 
Alan and his family have lived in Devon for nearly 20 years and he is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and a Member of the Institute of Directors.
